Nikon, Canon Safe after Japan Quake
As of approximately 7:30 AM (E.T.) today,  reports have come in that the Nikon Corporation building and factories, which are located in the north of Japan where a  massive 8.9-magnitude earthquake was centered, were not significantly damaged, and no employee injuries were reported. There are no reports of plant damage.

Pentax is currently investigating whether there were damage to its facilities or injuries to staff. The quake is the most powerful to have hit Japan in at least 100 years, and generated a Tsunami that is causing widespread damage.

In the past few hour’s, the nuclear plant in Fukushima has had an explosion. There are reports that several workers at the plant have been injured and there is a concern the plant could go into meltdown.
